To calculate your baby’s leaps, you must use the due date based on the 40 weeks, and not the date of birth. This may seem illogical, but to calculate when your baby will make a leap, the date of birth is totally irrelevant, only the due date is going to help with this.

The leaps are based on brain development with a margin of maximum 2 weeks. And this starts for all babies at the same time, the moment of conception.

And while the period between conception and the date of birth may be different for all babies, the period between conception and the due date is always the same. So by using the due date, it doesn’t matter if your baby was born too early or too late, because brain development happens at the same rate, inside or outside the womb.

The beginning of a leap happens during the fussy phase of the leap. How long this fussy phase lasts varies from leap to leap. So the fussy phase does not indicate the duration of the fussy phase, but when it may begin. The thundercloud indicates the time when your baby is most likely to be in a fussy phase. So your baby can enter the fussy phase during the first day, but also on the last day.

Because we use the due date to calculate the leaps, we know when your baby will make a leap with a margin of +/- 2 weeks. Because of this, it is also possible that your baby will enter a leap earlier than our app indicates.

It may be that you still have the old version of the app. In the past, we had a separate app for each language in the App Store and Google Play Store. It has never been our own choice but due to policy changes at Apple and Google, we were forced to move to one app and remove the rest of the apps from the App Store and Google Play Store. As a result, we can no longer update these apps (including yours).

As long as you have not removed the old app from your phone, you can still use it. The content in the app is still correct. Therefore, you do not need the new app for the information about the leaps.

If you would like to have the latest version with the new design and latest updates, you will have to buy it again.

Do you have the new app? Then you can check if your phone might be (too) full. Is your phone not (too) full? Then clear the cache of the appstore on your phone and restart your phone to try again.

Each baby develops at his or her own pace. Most babies will not show all the skills immediately during the leap itself.

Some skills from leap 3, for example, your baby will show in leap 3, but there will also be skills belonging to leap 3 that your baby won’t show until leap 4 or 5. Your baby will develop the skills that interest him/her most. One baby will develop motor skills first and speech and language a few weeks/months later. And another baby will do just the opposite.

Your baby ultimately decides which skills to develop and when. This is based on his/her interests. What interests him/her most he/she will explore and develop first. The cool thing is, that this allows you to recognize your child’s character at an early age.

The fussy phase (the yellow (in app) or gray (in book) bar in the leap chart) is when brain development takes place. Because your baby looks at the world differently during this brain development, it seems like your baby has woken up on a different world. And they get upset by that. However, when they have gotten used to this new world, they will show new skills that are part of brain development: the skills phase (the green (app) or white (book) bar in the leap chart).

When a baby shows these skills, is very different for each child. This also depends on the interests of your child. One child will show motor developments earlier and speech developments later. The other child will do exactly the opposite. Your child ultimately determines when they show what. The nice thing is that you can recognize the character of your child at an early age :)

Some skills of, for example, leap 3 your child will show in leap 3, but there will also be skills that belong to leap 3 that your child will show in leap 4.

Therefore it is not important to know how long a leap lasts, but it is especially important when a leap, and with that the brain development, starts.

Imagine falling asleep in your familiar world. And when you wake up, suddenly your whole world has changed. Would you be crying? Cranky? Clinging to the only thing you still know?

Researchers Hetty van de Rijt and Frans Plooij discovered something remarkable in baby chimpanzees in Tanzania in 1971. After showing visible progress, the baby chimpanzees went through periods of regression. They needed the old familiar things and showed decline in independence. After coming home and continuing their research in families, they discovered that it’s no different for human babies.

They found that these changes were down to a sudden leap in brain development. And there are 10 unique leaps in the first 20 months. Using the due date we can even predict when these 10 leaps will begin.

Yellow bar/dark gray bar

This represents the fussy phase of the leap. During this period, you baby may be showing Crying, Clinginess, and Crankiness (the three Cs) . The fussy phase does not have to last the entire duration of the bar. It varies for each leap.

Thundercloud

During this week your baby is most likely to experience the fussy phase.

Green bar/light gray bar

This represents the skills phase of the leap. During this period, your baby is most likely to demonstrate the new skills of the leap.

Sunshine

During this week, your baby is most likely to be the sunshine in the house.

Pink bar/mid-gray bar

It will seem like your baby is in a fussy phase, but it is the working out of a new skill about distances between 2 objects. Your baby has simply discovered that someone can walk away and leave him/her behind. And that’s a little scary.

You can easily transfer the information to your new device by using the same AppleID as the app is connected to this account. When you have made a backup you can download the app again for free from the Google Play Store (when you have an Android device) or from the Appstore (when you have an iPhone). After you have downloaded the app you can go to the backup in settings and press on ‘(icloud) backup / Restore’ and press the ‘Restore’ button.

If you are trying to change between Android and iOS (or visa versa), please notice:

Google and Apple are two different platforms, it’s not possible to transfer your account from Apple to Google or vice versa. You can compare this with switching from a Playstation to a Nintendo. Some games are available on a Playstation and a Nintendo, but if you have the game on a Playstation it doesn’t work on a Nintendo and you will have to buy it again. The same goes for our app.

Therefore it is not important to know how long a leap lasts, but it is especially important when a leap, and with that the brain development, starts.

The BTY program is suitable for everyone. Even if you have a large diastasis or prolapse, or have had a C-section. With some exercises, however, you need to pay attention to this. We explain this in The Wonder Weeks – Back To You app and in the videos we indicate this with the following icons

Back To You is divided into several blocks that will help you in your recovery process. Each block consists of 3 weeks. Each block contains new exercises that perfectly match the week of recovery you are currently in. It is not recommended to fast forward the blocks, these exercises will (possibly) be heavier than your body can handle at that time. So start slowly, build up slowly and listen to your body!

The full program can be started immediately after giving birth but also much later, the program is for every woman who has brought a child into the world, whether this is 1 week, 1 month or a year ago. If you have given birth 6 weeks or later then you start in week 6, because the primary physical and mental recovery will have taken place by then. That is the last week of the Back phase. Women who start right away prevent weaknesses from developing into problems, and women who start later after giving birth can, with this proper guidance, reduce the problems that are developing and bring them back to good health so that real complaints (mental and physical) requiring medical / mental intervention can be prevented.

Everyone uses information in a different way. Some people prefer to read, while others prefer to have everything digital. To meet all these needs, we have developed the The Wonder Weeks! Back To You book + FREE work-out App and the full Back To You Full Program App. These are meant to be used separately, not in combination. So you can choose one of the two products, which both have the same purpose: Back To You.

Book + Free Work-out App

In the book you will read all the information you need about recovery after your pregnancy & delivery! And since some things are nicer to see than to read, we created the free workout app where you can see the workout and join in. You can use the code from the Back To You book to install this free work-out app.

Back To You Full Program App

In the The Wonder Weeks! Back To You Full Program App, the book is completely digital. By filling in your delivery date you will receive the right information and work-outs for each phase. The same information as in the book is available in the app to read, listen and / or watch / participate. For this you can subscribe per month, quarter or year. Because the Back To You program lasts nine months, a year is the most economical option.

It’s your choice whether or not to do all the exercises, of course. For optimal recovery, we recommend completing all exercises three days a week. Should you should skip some exercises, this could potentially interfere with the exercises in the next block and your recovery could be slower or not complete.

We give you a brief explanation about a prolapse and a diastasis. The Wonder Weeks – Back To You explains everything about prolapses and diastases* and gives you all the tools to safely recover them.

* If you have doubts whether you have one of the conditions below? Then contact your physician.

Prolapse (sagging)

When the pelvic floor is not functioning as it should (you can’t tighten it at the right times, it’s too weak or too tense), the pelvic organs could fall out of place or sag. A weak pelvic floor isn’t always to blame for a prolapse, however. After all, your pelvic floor is not the only body part responsible for keeping everything inside. The rest of your powerhouse also plays a significant role.

Diastasis (rectal diastasis)

Your vertical and oblique abdominal muscles form a lovely corset around your belly keeping everything in place, they give you strength and help maintain your posture. When you are pregnant, the influence of hormones and particularly the internal pressure make the muscles and connective tissue more flexible and the vertical muscles move farther away from each other. The abdominal muscles don’t become completely separated or split as we often hear. It is only the connection between the two muscles that stretches: the diastasis increases.
