The due date is important for you, but also for the obstetrician or gynecologist. This way they can keep a close eye on whether your baby is developing well for its term. The due date is usually 40 weeks after the first day of your last period.

Because it is (almost) always impossible to determine the exact moment of conception, the calculation is made from the first day of the last menstrual period. It takes 38 weeks from the time of conception to a full-term baby. Do you want to calculate your estimated due date? Then take the first day of you last menstrual period and add 40 weeks (280 days) to it. Keep in mind that this is indicative only, and it is most reliable with a regular cycle. With a longer cycle, the due date will be later, and with a shorter cycle, the dure date will be earlier.
